Thanks for the insightful and thoughtful reasoning. I was leaning towards No for many of the reasons you suggest (plus I hate these state props and generally think we should vote no unless there is a very good reason not to). But my husband was leaning toward Yes, swayed by the mailing from the less privileged tribes. Your blog helped us both decide. Thanks.

Why is it not fair for a casino to pay higher taxes. What other multi-billion dollar corporation can guarantee profits the way a casino can? Casinos are printing presses. There is still a huge financial risk when drilling for oil and there was once a huge risk laying rail.

The only thing you said, that I can not agree with is that the casinos should pay higher taxes. That is not fair either, they should pay the same as any other multi-billion dollar corporation.

I also really like the idea of legalized gambling, especially if the props pass and the tribes stick it to the rest of us.

You've made the right decision in voting NO.

Additional reasons include the fact that Don Perata and Fabian Nunez, who are trying to sneak their way past term limits, shepherded these propositions through, after getting the tribes to agree not to bankroll No on Prop. 93.

As one of 230 adults who were terminated from the Pechanga Band, I can tell you the stories are true. Pechanga hired an expert to PROVE we were NOT Pechanga and lo and behold, the evidence proved we WERE. They simply ignored his findings. Go to knbc.com and look for their video WITHOUT A TRIBE for that story. Or, you can come to my blog http://originalpechanga.blogspot.com and there are links there.
