Warning, the images in this video are highly disturbing. This seems to be making its way around the web but do keep in mind while watching of our beef slaughtering plants.

Update: 4/13/07 - I understand people are emotional over this video and want to express themselves. I am all for people commenting on this Blog and I hate to censor. But some comments are extremely hostile and inappropriate for the mass audience I have visiting this blog. If you want me to post your comments, keep it clean otherwise I have to delete them.

I actually feel sorry for the these dolphins. I do love dolphins, and will never eat them. But still that’s how this world goes. We also murder other many kind of living things and eat them with delight.

I am sorry, but Japan is a bitch. Killing innocent dolphins. Making them suffer. letting children watch. It’s pathetic. What has the world come to? Then on top of all that, polluting the water with their blood. But seriously WHAT THE FUCK?! I am surprised it is not illegal. This got me teary-eyed

I can’t imagine that these people can still sleep ar night.
    This should be world-news.

Is Greepeace aware of the awfull dolphin-slaughter?

What can we do to stop this from happening?

Should we fund the industrie in Japan, so they no longer need to do this anymore?

Isn’t it sick how humans treat the creatures around us. This is such a horrible way to die and it’s happening to dolphins, cows, lambs, goats, pigs, chickens, even cats and dogs in some countries. It makes me sick. and i hope the people who torture these animals get what they deserve. These animals just want to live in peace just like us humans. Karma is a bitch, so to every fisherman and to every slaughter house butcher, beware because god has a plan for you.

This makes me sick. These dolphins shouldent be treated this way. It makes me want to puke. The way they drag the dolphin with a truck, thats just so fucking cruel. This is too inhumane and just disgusting. Something needs to be done about this.

When I saw the dolphin being dragged across the road, being pulled by the truck I started to cry because the dolphin must be in real pain and it’s really REALLY REALLY cruel to just let them die like that. Japan’s rulers are total bastards and they should all go to hell. It’s too mean and I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t fucking like it if they were dragged across concrete by a truck and just stabbed so that their blood will leave their body and they would die really slowly and painfully.

When I saw this video i was shocked…. I was suprised that things like this exist in our world. At the end of the video i was completely at lost of words. But i realized something. That this is one of the few problems we have in our world. Though this video may be shocking and extremely cruel, we even you as humans take a the blame everyone of us. Don’t forget the animals we kill every year to feed us. At an average day your into pepperoni pizza, meat from cows and pigs. Though do some of us know what it took to get it? Do we think how the cow was slaughterd to get the meat? No we don’t…. not all of us. I, myself am one of those people. I wish that people who see this video don’t discriminate. Massacre slaughters in Japan doesn’t mean they are the ones who only do it and have a sick society. Don’t forget to look everywhere around us from the streets if New York to wars around us. There is no need to fight while we have already so much problems in the world. We don;t live in a perfect world. Not all of us is basicly a hero.

These are sentient animals. They have language after a fashion. They form communities. They think. They are not stupid cattle, unaware of what’s happening to them.

Even so, we butcher cattle and other food animals in the most humane way possible to minimize suffering. The fishermen in this video seemed to purposely inflict as much suffering as possible, as if they were just fish.

But why be surprised? These are the same people who tortured and butchered humans on a massive scale during the last world war.Why would they care what happens to Dolphins.

Yes it made me sick and I’m no animal rights activist.

I’m on my work computer, so I can’t see the video. But yes, this is a terrible thing. And yes, i am an activist. (oddly enough, I’m in the navy as well) I’ve been all around the world, and sadly, I’ve seen things just as, if not crueler than this. Do you know what they do in vivisection labs even here in America, what they do to monkeys in the Phillipines, and even to young girls in Cambodia? It makes me sick that so many of you can cause such an outcry of pain and bewilderment when you know nothing of what goes on in the rest of the world. Or are you just turning a blind eye to creatures that you don’t think are “sentient” or even cute enough to be worth the effort to give your support to save. Just because animals can’t speak or tell you that something hurts, doesn’t mean that they don’t feel pain.
And, for all of you saying that Japanese people are sick because of a few that did this to dolphins, are complete morons. It’s the exact same thing as saying that all americans are sick because of one serial killer, or that all Germans are nazis because of the holocaust, or that all people from the middle east are terrorists because of the taliban, or that all people in south america are drug dealers because of cartels in Colombia.
Oh and Monica, (I do hope you come back to this page) I do hope you can do something about how incredibly stupid your comment sounds. This article is about a few Japanese people, so how the hell can you say that you’re never eating Chinese food again? No, they din’t sell rats to us here in the states, thanks to the Food and Drug Administration regarding imports. It must be nice to be so incredibly ignorant, thinking you’re right all the time. feel free to visit my site and email me with any arguements if you feel so inclined.

i see people relate these massacres to that of cows and chickens in america all too often. no one can argue (with any intelligence) that cows and chickens have as developed brains as dolphins. a dolphins cerebral cortex (the part of the brain that thinks and feels emotions) has more folds (folds ina cerebral cortex indicate intelligence) than that of a human brain. theoretically cows and chickens have no thought process. also, cows and chickens are farmed for slaughter, thus, not threatening extinction to their species. THERE ARE NO DOLPHIN FARMS!!

Oh my gosh…I kept on crying when I saw this video. I don’t know, I was speechless when I saw this cruelty to those dolphins. But have you ever thought of this? Many generations of humans and animals are created. They replace the ones that are dead. But there is one link that stops this. If all the members of one kind are slaughtered, there is no way to recreate them. Cows and chickens are a different story, for you people who keep on idiotically talking constantly about them. Anyways, Japanese people have no right to brutally kill them unless it’s for a significant cause. But those people have no mercy for those animals =(
    _______________________________________________
Cows and chickens have a major offspring. I mean, dolphins just have maybe about 2 babies. But chickens? They have about 12 eggs that likely hatch to create 12 baby chicks. Why do you think that farmers don’t kill the chicks, but kill the chickens? (They are creating a new generation) And cows are a major animal in America. They are the source for milk. So they are use to a MINIMUM and use essentially.

I hope you people stop blabbering about cow and chicken massacres and start talking about the importance like Eagles, Rhinoceros, Turtles, Wolves, Zebras, Crocodiles, Dolphins, etc.

i love marine life. and i dont have a problem with people eating animals. i have a problem with the amount they eat and the way the kill the animals. take a steer for example, at a good slaughterhouse, the steer is dropped off into a clean stall. it does not have any smell. then pushed up a hall way into a small stall. the lights are turned out and a gun instantly kills the steer. the steer never saw it coming. but when you drop off a steer into a bad slaughterhouse, it smells awful, the place where you leave the steer is dirty, maybe knee high in feces and mud, then the steer is forced into a stall and sees it coming. it sucks for them.

i wish that the japanese would reduce their numbers and kill much more humanely. i think a punishment for killing anything inhumanely should be that that person or 1 of his/her family member killed the same way.

I have lived in Japan for the last 2 years and 9 months. I knew seasonal dolphin hunts or culls were done in a few rural coastal towns and villages on the main island of Honshu and that it is a 400 year old tradition. However I had no idea about the way they are actually hunted and killed until recently. I have discussed this with my Japanese friends and they have had similar reactions to many of the people who have commented here. They are shocked, horrified and ashamed. Many Japanese people have no idea how the dolphins are hunted and killed and presume it must be done in the quickest and most humane way possible. They are horrified, shocked and embarrassed about to discover otherwise. Japan has a huge population and there are loads of different kinds of people here. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not defending this in any way but I just wanted to say that it is only a few Japanese people in specific areas that kill dolphins and consume dolphin meat, not everyone. There is also another side to this. Many of the dolphin hunting fishermen would go back to catching lobsters and crabs if aquariums and marine parks didn’t pay premium prices for live capture and delivery of dolphins. Several representatives from major aquariums around the world have been seen on the beacheds of the “killing coves” picking out the dolphins they want for their establishments prior to the rest of the dolphins being slaughtered. Apparently this is where the big money is, not in the sale of dolphin meat to a select few local supermarkets. Just wanted to add those points.

I don’t understand why people keep posting “omg1. dis is realityy. humanz eat cows, chicken, etc111″

This is more than eating animals out of necessity. A gunshot to the head is a lot more human than having your throat slit, and left to bleed to death… or suffocate. Which ever comes first.

Killing animals for food is not wrong. Allowing an animal to be tortured like this is what’s wrong.

That video was because of something that happened where dolphins were interrupting the japanese fishing trade, and eating all of the fish that ware there. dolphin meat is NOT sold so do not make up stories about it. This video simply proves that people will believe anything when they know nothing. school children are not encouraged to look at this kind of thing, they are not heartless, in fact they are more sentimental and self concious than any american i have ever met. just because you dont understand something, dont call a WHOLE country heartless. thats like saying that all americans are stupid and selfish and cause the death of other countries because they dont give their paychecks to starving countries.

The Japanese are a backward people and this is without dispute.
The only way they ever move forward is to copy and steal other country’s technology. A case of monkey see monkey do. They have no compassion for their own people and families so how do you expect them to have any for the wildlife that belongs, not only to them, but to the rest of the World. How can anyone expect a nation that sees the human foetus as a culinary delicacy, to ever act in a truly civilised manner. The Japanese race is probably one of the weirdest and most barbaric races on the planet. They openly flout International law and hunt thousands of whales every year. They claim research purposes but, as everyone knows this is a crock of bullshit. They claim that ancient traditions give them the right to destroy the whales and dolphins as they do. Well I have travelled all over the World and I am sick of hearing how tradition is blamed for such things. If such traditions exist they are based upon cruelty and are steeped in backward thinking. The best way to tackle the Jap destruction of whales and dolphins is by direct action. Their fleet of boats and ships should be sunk immediately. As I write this note I am watching the horrific documentary called Why Dolphins Cry, on the Nat Geo Wild channel. If you get the chance, you should see this film, and then you will understand why I call for such drastic action.

These things never come out in the Japnese media. In Japan, only few english newspaper reported things like these but never the Japanese one. So how can most Japanese know about these stuffs where most of them have difficulties in english language.? In the stores, everything is neatly packed. All evidences of violence is nowhere to be seen.

I know that each countries has its own defect, but let us focus on these issues of dolphins and whales here. Let us not justify these actions by throwing stones at each others.

WOW GUYS! STOP BEING SO FUCKING IGNORANT! Japanese people dont kill dolphins this way anymore (havent for many years), but in a more humane way of driving a stake into the dolphins brain. There are also people justifying the slaughter of chickens and cows due to them not having as sophisticated brains as dolphins do. This is just like saying that autistic people can be killed. Who cares if they die!? Theyre mentally retarded! NO! That is not right! Just because a species is dumber than another, doesnt justify the massacre of the dumber species.

I admit that the Rape of nanking or all the other stuff is not right. But what American soldiers are doing in Iraq (rape, murder) is also no acceptable! According to posts/comments on this site/ other sites, it is safe for me to say that all Americans are hypocritical rapists…But I dont.

Come on guys, grow up, be informed! Dont be ignorant…

All the people who have expressed outrage by in turn want to brutalize others is a crazy and ignorant thing to do. Do you not understand how that sounds? “I’d like to kill them because they killed the dolphins..etc.” That is hypocrocy.

I am very upset about this dolphin slaughter though, but please, people, do not act in kind! Also, to Jackie, saying we are ignorant because there are other atrosities going on in the world that we “don’t know about”. Well, duh, that’s the clincher there. If we knew about like this story, then maybe there would be the same kind of outrage.

This has be exposed so we do now know about it and can express our outrage over such horrible mistreatment of intelligent mammals. This is just horrible.

i understand why many people would be so upset at the site of this. but who are we to say that japan cannot do this? they have been killing dolphins for YEARS! why is it all of the sudden such a huge deal? do you see the hindus rebelling against the world because we eat their sacred animal? NO. and the cow is sacred to them…what is a dolphin to us? a source of entertainment. its not illegal, and the dolphins are not endangered. The only problem i see is how they go about killing the dolphins…yeah that could use some help. but unless everyone complaining is a vegetarian…just stop because your argument is not a good one. i dont mean to sound like a heartless prick, i love dolphins…but lets be serious now. what makes dolphins so much better than all of the animals we slaughter and eat? please…i really want to know.

    that is sick.
killing innocent dolphins for no absolute reason, as children walk by and see the dolphins shake and tremor? and how they drain the blood into the ocean after wards?
How sick. this should be illegal.

The japanese are currently killing hundreds of whales and dolphins.

They killed thousands of americans in world war 2!!

They also killed 20 million asians( chinese mainly) in the world war 2

We must fight back and bomb the shit out of Japan!!! So that justice is served

I’m seeing a lot of hateful comments about Japan. Not only are they racist and wrong, but they show how ignorant you people are. Just when you see something like the Dolphin Massacre, you start wailing away your emotions and start pointing fingers. What about farms? I’m sure all farm animals need to die somehow so that meat can be served on a meat eater’s table?

Do you happen to know what farm animals go through in factory farming? If you’re really compassionate, stop eating meat, stop buying leather, and any animal products. Basically go VEGAN.

Otherwise, stop hating on JAPAN. This is all propaganda. There is always another side to the “truth”. Everyone should think critically.

Well i was afer i had finished watching the video in the middle way. And i refused myself to continue this in-human curel dophin masscarre. From this video, i can deeply feel that how cruelly japanese treat other creatures other than themselves. They are so sick and i believe that if they continue doing fish killing like this, no more fish in the sea willing to swim to this stupid island country and let them all die of seafood shortage. Once again, i wanna express my strongest opinion that i am extremely hate cruelty no killing. Remember, every single life come to the world has its own right to live, human has no such an priority to take it away, not even an ant.

I feel sorry for the innocent dolphins and it is absolutely NOT fair at all that humans should do that. I wouldn’t get all mad at Japan though, every country in this world does really cruel things to animals, and it is not fair at all because hey, what did they ever do to us? Nothing. They’ve always left humans alone unless we do something first. i think dolphin eating is mean especially when they kill them like that and then drain all the gallons of blood into the ocean. That is bad for the environment.

P.S. NOBODY should kill ANYTHING the way those people killed those dolphins. i mean, couldn’t they just shoot them or stab them in a immediate-death place and be done? it would be much more human! they actually torture the dolphins and I’m not kidding!!!

I would like to know what whales and dolphins taste like. I want to eat them, but I suppose I would want to kill them myself so that I know the Japanese aren’t hurting them.

i am japanese and live in Italy right now. i’ve lived in the States for 11 years and now i’ve been here for the last 5years. i was just watching a show on italian TV channel and saw the footage of the dolphin massacre in Japan. i truly think that not many people in Japan know this. i don’t even have any idea where this is happening. i didn’t even know that there are dolphins living close to our country. I immediately came on line to see if it was really true and found your blog. i am so hurt and upset about the whole thing and i completely understand how all the people commenting here get upset. i came online to see if there was anything i could do to help this thing but after having read all the comments, i feel like there is nothing i can do. Yes, i may be able to start a campaign to stop this but i cannot do anything about the emotional comments people are giving to this blog. all i can say is that don’t look at one thing and start picking on it. once you start giving these kind of hateful comments, it can only escalate. stop being judgmental and instead of complaining, let’s do something about it. OR, are you just going to sit there and complain about other people’s culture and judge something that you only heard once or twice? don’t you want to make some action and see it with your own eyes and try to make some change? if you are so upset about it, stop giving only comments and be responsible about having seen the footage. don’t you also want to know why these people are really doing? I don’t know what the situation they are in, so i’d very much like to know what is causing them to do this.

was doing more research and found a blog by a japanese woman on the same subject. there are many comments written by japanese people and all of them are in shock and very disappointed about this thing. they and myself have already signed up for the petition. please know that japanese people are also in shock. also found out that these dolphins are bought also by american aquariums, about 8 dolphins/year. isn’t it really important to know the entire background and situation before you judge something? i at least think so.
