Democrats Win Elections, Rumsfeld Steps Down

Christmas has come early for many people, especially those who shuddered at any thought of Rumsfeld. According to ABC News,
Halliburton, the CIA and big tobacco companies are among the early targets identified by top Democratic staff to ABC News as likely targets for investigation once the Democrats take control of the House at the beginning of next year.
The staffers say Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), now expected to become speaker, has told top Democratic donors there is a “100-hour agenda” she wants to push through — taking on the minimum wage, drug and energy prices and corruption.
Nancy Pelosi, possibly likely to be the first women speaker saying “The beauty and genius of our democracy has spoken”
Fox News reported the Defense Secretary change according to Bush, “time had come for new leadership at the Pentagon”.
Bush named former CIA director Bob Gates who worked under Bush senior (91-93) and who is currently the president of Texas A&M University as Rumsfeld’s replacement.
CNN Reported that in 2002 Gates wrote about the “difficulty of connecting the dots” of raw intelligence reports
“While some pre-9/11 items of intelligence today seem like red flags, pulling together incomplete or ambiguous fragments of information into a credible and compelling analysis is more difficult than the Monday-morning quarterbacks would have you think,” Gates wrote.
I don’t need to be captain obvious to point out America’s incompetence with it’s handling of Iraq since we booted out Saddam Hussein. It was this incompetence I believe lost the elections for the Republicans.
So what comes now?
The democrats are now up to bat with two years to show the world what they have. Two years is a long time to make change and a lot of things can happen.
I know that there are plenty of Americans who despise the Bush / Cheney administration and would love to see criminal investigation for what they call an illegal occupation of another nation.
What I fear with the Democrats being in control are the allegations already being made against certain multinational corporations who has ties to the Whitehouse. I agree with Bush when he said this morning that our enemy is still out there and we still need to protect this country.
I hope we don’t spend the next few years ignoring Islamic fundamentalists who have it in for Westerners because we are spending our time watching the current administration get lynched by look-at-me-now politicians who want to make quick names for themselves.
