Let me just start this post out by saying, FUCK!
From North Korea to Lebanon things are serious and if this is not the beginning of a new World War I’d hate to see what is. The fact is we are dealing with hostile ideological, religious and ethnical differences and things don’t look good.
I am not an expert in geopolitical issues but from watching the news over the past few weeks this is what I understand.
The Council on Foreign Relations reported that Pakistan had been supplying North Korea designs which would help them make highly enriched uranium for nuclear weapons. Kim Jong Il’s missile launch on the day the United States celebrated its independence was nothing more then a blatant statement to the world that he now posed a threat to Japan, South Korea, China, and the United States. Speculation has it that the Taepondong Missile can reach a 6,000 – 10,000 km.
The United States has been deeply concerned with Iran developing nuclear weapons for sometime. The head of Iran, Ahmadinejad is now publicly saying he wants to defeat the Americans and eliminate Israel from the face of the earth. Let me not forget to mention the deeply disturbing connection with Iran, Syria, Hamas, and Hizballah.
In an attempt to keep peace last year, Israel had made concessions to the Palestinians by removing all Jewish settlers from the West Bank and Gaza Strip. This was an emotionally charged event causing many great pain. It is now understood that this concession on behalf of Israel was viewed by the Islamist fanatical as weakness.
According to next weeks Time Magazine, “Hizballah kidnapping an Israeli corporal and smuggling him into the Gaza Strip, has produced the worst Arab-Israeli cross-border conflict since Israel’s invasion of Lebanon in 1982.”
Hizballah is an Islamist Shi’ite group that operates freely in southern Lebanon, aka Guerrilla’s because there is no structured government in Lebanon to overpower them. Sounds a bit like what is going on in Iraq.
Israel is now following America’s lead by not negotiating with terrorists.
The news brings us back to Pakistan with India officials accusing Pakistan-based Islamic militant groups on the recent Mumbai bombing’s.
To think this is not enough, the Pakistan Ambassador is currently in talks with the Iran Defense Minister.
How about al –Qaida? Well, it turns out they are all connected to this. In February 26, 2002 the Institute for Counter-Terrorism wrote a report on the connection between Al-Qaida and Hizballah.
The presence of al-Qaida cells in Lebanon and the cooperation with the radical Islamic terror organizations sponsored by Iran poses a potential real and immanent threat to American interests all over the Middle East.
What concerns me deeply with the enemy is their ability to hide in any society. How do you fight an enemy who blends in with innocent people?
Quoting Newt Gringrich in an interview with Tim Russert of Meet the Press on July 16, 2006
The British home secretary saying that there are 20 terrorist groups with 1200 terrorists in Britain. Seven people in Miami videotaped pledging allegiance to al-Qaeda, and 18 people in Canada being picked up with twice the explosives that were used in Oklahoma City, with an explicit threat to bomb the Canadian parliament, and saying they’d like to behead the Canadian prime minister. And finally, in New York City, reports that in three different countries people were plotting to destroy the tunnels of New York.

Bush isn’t perfect but I’m glad we have a president that is tough on terriorism. I shudder to think how all of the liberals, would be handling this. I think liberals are good people and mean well as do gooders. They just never seem to have a realistic view of the world.
If Israel has crossed the border, can we be far behind?

i think what is likely to happen:
isreal is going to nuke half the middle east
and japan is going to nuke north korea.
No way is japan going to let themselves get nuked again. I don’t believe for a second that a country like japan, with their nuclear power program, capital resources and over 12 tons of enriched plutonium does not have a couple of nukes ready to go if North Korea starts acting like they might launch.
my biggest concern, though, is someone smuggling an ex USSR warhead into NYC and setting it off.

US soil most likely will get attacked during the next American presidency.
The fact that terrorists are attacking abroad and not on US soil I believe is indicative of ‘al-qaida’ waiting for the right time to do damage.
If you live in a major city, i.e. LA, Boston, NYC, I’m guessing the next two and a half years is a good time period for you to move to another location.

The radical islamist extreamists that go around threatening everyone have been angry with the whole world since the fall of the ottamin empire in the 12th century. These nutjobs want to kill the whole world,so let me be blunt. You can’t come to any kind of diplomatic peace with these barbarians(as Isreal painfully learned)they just see it as weakness.You can’t reason with them,you can’t bargain with them,they don’t feel pity or remorse,and they absolutely will not stop ever untill they’ve destroyed the whole world! So,the question is this,Is the whole world just going to set around and let these animals destroy good people everywhere? Or is the wold going to follow the U.S. and Isreal’s lead and take it to these jackels? THERE IS NO THIRD DIRECTION TO GO WITH THIS!

I would be very surprised if Japan were to nuke N Korea, as their Constitution was modified after WW II prohibiting any preemptive acts of aggression.
The call for additional bloodshed in these comments is truly alarming. Perhaps the hawks are not concerned with the tens of thousands of women and children that have fallen victim of Western aggression in the Middle East.
Where will these hawks be when additional troops are required to fight all these wars? Will they step up and send their kids off to die in the name of freedom and liberty? I guess not. The job of fighting and dying will fall where it always does - on the on the poor, on the minorities, on the under-educated.
We’ll all sit here talking about this for the next half hour, and in that time some 20 year old kid from Alabama will take a bullet in the neck, and die in the dry heat of Baghdad. It will be an ugly sight - a candle extinguished far too early. But hey, it won’t be your kid.
What is our role in this situation, and what can we do to change the course of events? The current path seems to point us down a slippery slope. I wonder what would happen if we modified our current policies to reflect a more diplomatic and peaceful approach. Would that be such a horrible example to set?

What we’ve sown is now being reaped!
Over 50 years ago the Europeans made the biggest mistake, they allowed European Jews to displace the Palestinians(UN, Balfur Declaration etc). Back in the 50’s the US made a similar mistake, the CIA caused the overthrow of a DEMOCRATICALLY elected Iranian official so that the “Shaw” could maintain/retain power and the oil would continue to flow.
“In those days Great Britain had its teeth embedded deep in the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, which was a pillar of England’s economy and political power. But in 1951, the Iranian parliament, led by Dr. Mohammed Mossadegh, voted unanimously to nationalize the oil industry. A month later Mossadegh was named prime minister of Iran. In response, Britain placed an embargo on Iranian oil exports and pressed for a political overthrow of Mossadegh’s power.
Even that rich oil deposit under the sands of the Middle East was behind the politics of the area. With Dr. Mossadegh virtually running the affairs of Iran, western powers became alarmed when Iran’s Communist Tudeh Party grew in power and aligned Iran and its immense oil resources with the Soviets. U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower and his Secretary of State, John Foster Dulles, directed the C.I.A. to work with British intelligence in masterminding a coup that eventually toppled Mossadegh from power.”
The present situation is simply the results of those two MAJOR mistakes.

No one I know seems to be aware of the escalation taking place in the Middle East. Not one person has made a statement with an exclamation point attached to the end of it. No, “Oh, my God! This is frightening!” statements or even concerns that our own lives here in the states could be in jeopardy very soon. Having a channel changer makes all the scary news go away…click. Sheep, you should be ashamed of your disinterest.

I have to say I am alarmed at much of the happenings in the world today. Through it all I try to keep my eyes on Jesus and remember that even though it may not look like it, HE is in control. All of this is in His perfect plan, whatever that may be. Keep your eyes on Him, trust in the Lord with all of your heart — He is the only constant in this craziness we live in.

Isreal is the aboriginal land of the Jews and the Palistinians are occuping Israel’s land trying own it. “The Jews can show thousands of years of living in Isreal as they are the rightful owners of it.” The Romans about 2000 years ago tried to take over Jewish land but it fell through. The Palistinians effort to take over the same Jewish land is wrong. The Jews own Bethlehem and Jerusalem and the Palestinians are living on Jewish land with thousands of years of Jewish owned history.
The Jews have the same right to live in Israel exactly the same as the first nation aboriginal native American and Canadian indians. The Jews have the right to let in immigrants like the US, Canada, Brazil, etc. have, to build the country.
If the Palistinians want live in Isreal they must abide by the owners rules and be also treated well but also be co-opertive.

Amen ww3-But this is just the beginning of long and protracted warfare .The nations will line up one by one to join in the final battle for the oil they think…..but really the prophecies of God are comming to pass more fully with every move that the world makes.

All of the stuff you see before you has been writin and is inevitable. Yes there is going to be a world war 3. The US and Isreal against the world. Can you do anything about it absoulutly not. According to the bible if you believe in God and accept Jesus as your savior you will not even be here during this period. You will be by the lords side as he and his followers defend the holy land and destroy all evil. There are just to many things happening in the world that align with the holy scriptures. This is meant to be and has to be done to clens the planet. I’ve been studying the end times for years and the bible is the best solution.

A thought provoking article but it misses the point. America is reaping the cycle of violence that it has sown in the world. Average Americans are woefully unaware of the world beyond their borders or the real source of frustration and pain as a result of America’s foreign policy. It is liitle wonder that they are surprised and shocked when acts of terror are perpetrated on their soil or against their citizens across the globe. The British, French, Belgians, Portuguese, Dutch along with countless other nations have seen fit to subjugate and destroy and steal the wealth of weaker less war-like peoples.
And no, before you label me a limp wristed liberal, look to your own country, where only now you start to understand and comprehend your destructiveness against the native american people. Greed has been the undoing of many a nation and the American people are learning this hard lesson now. No-one has been fooled by the war on terror. It is not even remotely possible for a country such as Iraq to pose any threat to the soveriegn rights of a country like the USA.
Greed and money and Power are the reasons you find yourselves in your current mess. At least have the decency to acknowledge that you owe the world a huge apology for your warlike behaviour and unprincipled attacks on countries around the world in order to secure natural resources and allies for yourselves.
Those of us who understand that not all Americans are decetful thieves hope that you will once again be true to your constitution and your fore-fathers, who built your nation in response to the tyranny and subjugation of world powers of their day, the British and French.
