Google Personalized Homepage – What Are You Using?

For the past 6 months or so I have been using Google personalized homepage to display all my RSS feeds. It has a great interface as it displays the top three newest entries of the 28 blogs I read on my Google homepage.
Since I go to Google a million times a day for search having all the blog posts on this page is super convenient. It allows me to keep up with everything without having to add an additional layer.
But lately I’ve been noticing there seems to be a long delay between the time someone posts to their blog and me receiving this new update via my Google personalized homepage. I guess part of my obsessive compulsiveness I would like to be the first to know breaking news.
Because of the convenience of having all my blog feeds showing up on the main Google search page I was content with it being a bit slow but for the past 24 hours all my feeds were down for long periods of time and when they did reappear it was in spurts and the data was all muddled.
I am just wondering what other readers people are using to keep up with their blogs and how convenient these readers are?

I have switched all my rss feeds on my google personalized page to the Google Reader (http://www.google.com/reader/view/) on my page and it appears to me that those feeds are updated a lot more regularly. I love having all my feeds in one place now.

Thanks Chad, I’ve migrated over and will test this out. So far it looks good!

The “I’m behind by X minutes” is a big part of why I stopped using bloglines. Although for other people who aren’t RSS fiends I still recommend it as a good place to start. Personally I use sage in my sidebar window in firefox.
As a side note I wonder if having a “significant number” of people subscribed to your feed with google reader will/is/could be used as an indicator of quality/trust.

Hey Graywolf, that’s a great point about Google possibly using Google Reader blog subscriptions as an indicator of quality / trust. Thanks for the sage tip for firefox. I will definitely check that out!

I’ve tried the Google Reader, but have gone back to having them all on the Google Home Page, simply because I felt I was missing out on some important posts.

[…] On a side note, you may recall I switched from using Google’s Personalized Homepage to Sage but just recently I have learned that you can now use tabs on Google’s Personalized Homepage. This is a great way to organize my feeds. […]
